PRESIDENT JK IN MAKETE

Hi,

President of United Republic of Tanzania Hon Jakaya Kikwete arrived at Makete at 4:56 pm at place called Mabehewani ground.

He then had taken to the high table where he met different district officials, after while the district commissioner introduced him to other accompanied guests. He was accompanied with minister of science and technology, ministry of agriculture, deputy ministry of education and other government officials.

Since it was approaching dark, He didn’t have chance to hear from differ individual instead he invited the Iwawa chairman to represent the district complain and problems. The chairman expressed on the problem of road that’s not reliable, agriculture fertilizer not sufficient, and bureaucracy on attaining bank loans, as the factors for hindrance on sustainable development.

The president responded by putting out the government strategies and solution to some of problems.

Lastly he expresses the HIV/AIDS pandemic by recall the current data of Makete which read 16.9% of the population being affected. He said this figure real disappointing, he emphasize on behaviour change, volunterly testing and correct use of condoms to fight against the new infection.

Some PIUMA members had been there in the meeting to hear from president and they had their words to present. Since they got no chance the complain had sent to district commissioner so he could submit to the president.

The meeting end at 6:30pm, and people dissipated at their respective home.

    Great to see the PIUMA delegation present - Kabuyu, John and others. Thanks for taking the time and making the effort to get to the public meeting.

    I wish that there were more support given by the government to the most effective suplliers of quality testing and treatment services in Makete - PIUMA and Consolata Hospital Ikonda - but maybe with time…
