Hi PIUMA!

Happy to hear that you go to sell the shirts, this will make your fight for honesty, transparency and accountabillity more powerful and you spread the meassage that nobody needs to die from HIV/AIDS - nobody.

I hope the day would come when greedy people from all over the world would recognize that carfully spent health ressources can save life and that stealing funds and tax payers money - like the Lutheran Church did - is killing people.

I recall the time the community got up with PIUMA and was punished by increasing their death toll again by closing the program who served them so well.

Greetings from Thailand

your Daktari Rainer

Great to see this finally happening! It's been months waiting for these beautiful branded T-shirts to clear cutoms in Dar, but it was worth the delays and frustrations.

First a huge "thank you" to Othmar Ruf from Salzburg for his enthusiastic support of PIUMA, his expertise in sourcing a supplier for this product, and his contribution of the cost of the production and shipping of them.

Second, another big thank you to Michael Wou and his team at Origami in Montreal for the great logo design and its application to these T-shirts. The PIUMA logo is now winning prizes around the world for its stunning impact, and it's great to know that it will be increasingly recognized on the roads and in the marketplaces of Makete District as well as in Toronto and New York.

Third, thank you to Vicky Ntetema and Rayben Sanga from the Advisory Committee of PIUMA who have worked for months in Dar trying to stickhandle through the customs and port authority bureaucracies. Much appreciated.

And finally, to the leaders, members, and staff of PIUMA, continued admiration for their courage and dedication in the cause.

I was reminded of the importance of this logo and what it stands for when I saw the pictures posted earlier on this site of a PIUMA member in a T-shirt visiting Veneranda Sanga in hospital. PIUMA members are "imara kama simba" - all the logo and the T-shirts do is help the rest of the world recognize that basic courage, discipline, and sense of justice.
